Habitat - Indoor :: Wondering how much your setups costed...

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Hi I was wondering how much your overall turtle setups costed with the tank, filters, heaters, basking spots, lighting, decor, etc. Mine altogether is going to cost around 900 dollars! I was wondering if this is normal and if other people are spending a lot too.

I was lucky to find a deal on nearly all my supplies. 135g tank, Fluval FX5, MVB bulb, random plants and accessories rounded out to just over $700.

Ok I guess a lot of other people are spending a lot too. It's all worth it for Bently though!

There was one of these a few months ago:

Mine worked out to about $600 for Frankie, and about $300 for Ralph.

I'd say close to $1,000... $400 for the tank (incl delivery charge and glass tops), $200 for the filter, $150 for the stand, plus all the decor/heater/lights/etc...

if I do the math correctly... it's cost me so far about $600 most of that on lights and filters and heaters. I got a 50 Gal tank for $60, built a stand for about $80 bought a filter for about $70, bought a heater for about $30... plus decor... plus how much he increased my electric bill and water bill, LOL (about $10 every month)... and I don't know how much his invetible basking area is going to cost because I'm building but so far we're at about $12, could end up being as much as $40 before I'm done decorating it and stuff....Who knew a little turtle would need so much? aw, but little Sam is worth it!

that doesn't include the vet bill when I first got him, or the price of the little turtle in the first place.

Oh wait, that's my old estimate, and it doesn't include Ralph's new FX5. That puts Ralph's cost at about $500 :o

I think I figured out one time it was around $1000 for everything, but I was counting all the extras like plastic plants and whatnot.

50 bucks for a 65g tank (go craigslist!). Fits perfectly on a study wood cabinet I already had.
~125 for an XP3, on sale. Boxing day is the best day.
Media I'll say around 20 for bio ring things. Rest can be macguver'ed with dollar store stuff.
~40 for the zoomed dock. Should of made my own for cheaper!
~24 for two clamp lamps. Got them at home depot in the lighting department. Make sure they're at least 125w.
UVB bulb is around 18-20 depending on where I go.
Heat bulb is just a regular lightbulb.
Decor was probably around 30.

50 + 125 + 20 + 40 + 24 + 20 + 30 = 319ish?
