I use the 100w powersun bulb by zoomed, it does everything in a single light. One fixture and a lamp stand with this bulb and the results are great. I'm very happy, so is Coca

I think I've seen a few people who use that, but you can only use fluorescent bulbs in it. That means you can put your UVB CFL in it, but not your heat source.

There is two ways to do a light setup. 1) A Basking bulb for UVA and heat, and a florescent bulb for UVB. You use two different light fixtures. 2) A mercury vapor bulb. It has UVA/UVB and gives off sufficient heat. But the MVB are for 55 gal and bigger tanks due to the heat output of one of this bulbs. It might be the next big thing to the sun for any large reptile enclosures. But this is of course personnel preference.

yea i currently have the first set up you mentioned. MVB seem expensive, but i think they're worth it in the long run

it is cheaper for a larger setup. I use 3 of these lights for my monitors enclosure as well. If I didn't I would need 3-4 heat lamps and three 48" florescent lights, that would cost a bit more than just 3 bulbs and fixtures. I already had this fixture for my turt's tank, so I bought the bulb for like 35 dollars or something, and they last about a year, I will change out after six months tho for safety

yea it seems to be cheaper in the long run. but i think i'll save my money for a better basking area first, then maybe get an MVB.

It is amazing how much a turtle that is the size of a quarter can cost over the years. I spend a lot of money and time on my turtles. But I like function with some clean looks, my final tank for her is going to have a lot of thought and time put in it. But these guys are so worth it, when kept right they can be very entertaining and fun to watch

yea i've spent a lot of money on my RES, mainly on the cost of buying turtle docks or basking platforms. i'm still trying to decide on what will be a good basking platform for my RES. maybe i'll have to invest on making a glass platform of some sort. hope you post pics of your future setup, i'd really love to see it!
