Habitat - Indoor :: New Turtle/New Tank

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

So I bought a baby RES about a week ago. It's only 2 inches long (I found out about the legal implications *after* the fact). When I got it, the guy sold me a little plastic dish to put him in.

Now, I finally got the funds to hook up a real habitat for it. The only problem is, when I introduced it to the tank, it sank the whole way to the bottom! I pulled it out and put it on the basking area, left the room, and when I came back, it was down at the bottom again!

Am I going to drown my turtle???

He'll come up for air. It will take a while for your little hatchling to get used to it's new home. Plus they're really shy when they're little. All the things that a turtle is supposed to do will happen when you're not looking. It'll probably try to hide from you for a while.

LOL, it does "run and hide." And I've been trying *really* hard to not hover over his tank. But it's difficult for me! I'm just so excited to have it!

I just had a "proud mama" moment! I came home for lunch today and he was up on his platform basking!!!
