Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Is this ok to do in maybe a large rubbermaid container? I would like to make an outdoor pond someday, but I live in an apartment right now. I have a porch here, it has a roof and not much sunlight so I would still have a light for them.

If you can make it predator and escape proof, plus regulate the temperature (not too hot in the sun), then yes, that's a fine idea. I think there's a few people here who have a stock tank setup outside for in the summer. Although, since as you say it doesn't get much light, there wouldn't be much advantage to it... Usually people like to take their turtles outside to get some real sunlight.

I was also wondering about this. I wanted to get one of those small (50 gal) preformed ponds from Lowes or Home Depot for the summer. Do I need to worry about maintaining temps, etc -or- should I be ok once it stays above 70 here in the northeast? My two turtles are 2-3" and have spent the past 6 moths or so in a 15 gallon tank indoors.
