Next was the ceramic ring basket, they had some gunk on them but not bad. I dunked the tray in some tank water a few times and the stuff fell off.
After that was the tray with the polishing pads. Now this is where the nasty stuff was. They were greyish/brown and just saturated. I ended up throwing these away they were so gross. I bought some marineland filter material stuff and cut it to fit. The stuff was super cheap for a huge piece (it's blue and white btw).
Obviously the two trays of bio rings didn't really have anything on them. So I just dunked the two trays in some tank water. After all that I rinsed the whole empty container out with water because it had a little sand in it and reassembled everything. All in all I'm super happy. The top sealed right up and got going again with ease.

As some of you may see I rearranged their tank a little. Oh and after 6months I still have not had any algae problems. Goes to show what a good bioload can do. I also did my first ever water change, although it wasn't much. I'd say around 25%.
