Has anyone ever heard of/used the Exo-Terra floating plants in any variety?

I bought some of the Duckweed variety, and Filbert wasn't too impressed. So I'm going to try this Lettuce kind to see if he'll use it. :)

Well, the plant that I use to float isn't an exo-terra product, but I've always loved the idea of floating plants. They had a calm prettiness to a tank, and work well for resting spots.

I just ordered this thing called a "lounge lily", which is a basic toy plastic basking platform, shaped like a lily pad. Not exo-terra either, but not everything has to be exo-terra (no matter how cool looking their stuff is ;) ).

I use the Exo-Terra "amapallo" large plants in my tanks. They're really big, and they're also the cheapest I could find (even compared to other similar exoterra plants)

I just bought some of the Exo-terra floating water hyacinth plants---on clearance at Petco. I try to make sure the leaves of any fake plant are too big to swallow, and the duckweed, for me, is too small. I'm not crazy about all those thin roots, but the turtle whose tank they're going in is pretty fussy, so I doubt he's going to bother with them.

I ordered the Water Lettuce floating plant from eBay for $5.99 total. So we'll see here in a few days if Filbert likes it or not!

Filbert will probably like it.

The only plants I've bought that my turtles hated were the hair grass. For whatever reason, they did not like them, and threw them around like crazy. This wasn't a fun game for them either, they were being very aggressive towards the plastic grass.

I use floating plants and had great success because it adds comfort and decoration to a other wise plain tank

I think they seem to like hiding under floating plants too.

Oh, and their favorite bottom plant, the frogbit, they casually kick the stones out of the cup weight, and make it float. So, naturally, I put it back, and they make it float again. It's really fun for use both to do this.

Ya know duckweed, that cute floating plant, is that safe for turtles?

Duckweed actually has a good calcium ratio. It's one of the better aquatic plants to have in a tank.

Azfar, I'm curious---duckweed looks like tiny clovers with roots that float on the water. How can you just throw one or two of them in the tank?

Is this duckweed? hehe.. in one of malayan boxie picture collection..

The plant is in another large water vase, then I pull one or two and throw in my turtles tank.. hehe.. but before I put the plant in the tank, I will cut the root first.. as don't want to mess the water..

I think I see duckweed in my turtle's future.

It seems easy enough to grow and maintain.

Azfar - That looks like "Water Lettuce", which is also very good for turtles! I might try to grow some this year :)
That's a very cute picture of the boxie!
