Habitat - Indoor :: will my turtle get enough sunlight here?

i'm thinking of moving my turtle from my fish bowl to my pond but i'm not sure whether he'll be getting enough sun.

here is a picture of the pond and how bright it can get.(although it looks brighter in pictures than in real life) On the right is a picture of the pond's ceiling. the ceiling is made out of an opaque material that lets some sunlight through. the turtle won't be be getting any direct sunlight in the pond. the turtle will get around five to six hours(10am to 3pm) of exposure to this kind of sunlight on a sunny day. The turtle will also get a couple more hours of dimmer sunlight as the sun rises or sets throughout the day.

will this be enough or will my turtle need a UVB light or direct sunlight?

First, I have to say that is a very nice looking pond you have there.

Moving on, the turtle needs more UVB. The best is from direct sunlight. With that
kind of opaque material, I think very very little UVB comes through. The turtle
might get UVB that way, but I think it would be better if it gets direct sunlight
once a week.

The turtle also needs a basking area where it can dry its top and bottom shell
completely. It needs to do this several times a day.

kemul is right your turtle will need more uvb
id say just take at least one of those panels away and allow for direct sunight

i don't think i can take out one of those panels. above those panels is another layer or roofing. if i take them out and it rains, water would fall into the pond.

how many hours a week of sun exposure would you suggest? hmm

they usually bask from morning to early afternoon and go for occasional swims during this time too, but all turtles r different i know my turntle likes to bask in the morning and late at night if i leave the lights on, how many hours is kind of a hard question for me to answer bc i dont know how mnay hours my turtle basks

I read that 20 minutes a week is enough if the turtle gets direct sunlight. If using
5.0 UVB bulb however, the basking should be several times daily. The shell needs
to get dried several times daily nevertheless. I like to bask my turtles under
direct sunlight every day, though.

Bulb for heat is used to entice the basking, since UVB bulb doesn't emit enough heat.

Turtles need at least 1 hour a day.

Come on people, there cold-blooded, they need that boost, its like cofee to them.

Without sun, the turtle will become Lethargic and die.

Well, I distinguished the need for heat and UVB. Heat is to keep the turtle's
metabolism going. UVB is to make vitamin D process the calcium. I think that's
how it goes. I assume the amount of calcium processed for a week needs that
20 minutes of sunlight UVB. Of course, more UVB won't hurt, just don't burn the
turtle to death or iritate the eyes.

The UVB bulb emits much less UVB than the sun, hence the longer basking time
under UVB bulb is needed.
