so i have 2 goldfish about 4" in a 10 gallon, they r my brothers but he is at college and i am left to take care of them. they do not get the best care bc they r in his room whcih no ones goes in, my question is should i put them in with my turtle? my turtles is in a 30 gallon. My turtle is about 2" and aslo living in the tank 2 smaller goldfish and guppies along with a blue gill. if i add them to the tank i will be able to put 2 more filters on the same tank, but my questions is if this is a good idea or if i should not do it.

I would avoid it. At first it may seem like the small turtle wouldn't be able to do deadly damage to the fish, but he/she easily can.

For the welfare of a pet that was entrusted to you, I would keep them apart. This is a case of "if it's not broken, don't fix it"

If you're focused on more filtration power for your turtle tank, simply upgrade to a nice canister filter.

my brother does not care what i do with the fish. and im not rly concerned about my turtle going after them. and a "simple upgrade" is like 200$ for a canister filter unless u know of a different one and im not doing that

what i would like to do is use the 10 gallon to in a way make a feeder fish breeding area. i would put all the guppies in it along with ghost shrimp and some neon tetra to make it look nice. so would it be ok if i moved the goldfish to the big tank? it would make it so i have my RES and 4 goldfish(which will probably end in 2 because the bigger ones tend to eat the small ones if my turtle doesnt eat them first) and a blue gill unless i decide to put it in the 10 gallon. i know goldfish are not the best for turtles but im never buying anymore. ive had these goldfish since b4 i knew they were not good for them. and ideas?

I just bought a canister filter today for $137 and it's going in a 100 gallon tank. There are cheaper ones out there especially for a 30 gallon. As far as the fish goes the turtle will most likely eat it and you need to be careful of pet store fish as they carry a lot of disease which can be no good for your turtle. Snails can help keep the tank clean and they are actually a healthy snack for your turtle. The nutrients in their shells are good for the turtles.
Male RES - Penelope(yes I know it's a girls name!!)
3 Ferrets - Jelly, Frodo, and Josephine
1 Cat - Lennon

well the fish r much bigger than the turtle so i am not concerned about him eating them yet. plus ive had these for about a year or so now so i dont think they carry anything and i know i need to upgrade my filter
