Habitat - Indoor :: What Filter Media?

So, I'm working on getting together a better setup for my turtle. My Eheim 2180 arrived the other day (awesome deal on eBay... but it's a BEAST). So, yeah, what do you recommend for media? It has 3 baskets. I COULD just buy the EHEIM media pack for about $130 but was just wondering if there was anything you recommended over that. Thanks!

One thing you can use instead of polishing pads which someone suggested here since its WAAAAY cheaper is that pillow padding that looks like a ton of threads thrown in a bag. Or atleast I think its polishing pads they said you can replace with that stuff.

Yeah, for now I'd like to go as cheap as possible. This will be for a 55 gallon tank once I get it and one turtle that is about 3-4 inches long. Just enough to keep that amount of water/waste under control.

Like MoreBloodWine said, poly filter stuffing works to replace a fine filter pad, but make sure you put it in a filter bag. The fibers have been known to get caught in impellers and burn out a motor.
