I may have found Niko a permanent tank for $450 that would be a nice compliment to the custom stand many of you saw when I was showing it off during the staining / sealing process.

The only downside to it all be it not a big deal is the following.

1. It's not acrylic which is what I was orginally after.
2. The obvious weight difference between a glass and acrylic tank.
3. The person says the seals are good but to be safe I might reseal it.

Other than those 3 minor but no big deals this tank looks like a damn good deal for $450. Although, I might have to pay them to deliver it but even then it should still be a good deal since I was originally lookin at spending damn near a thousand bucks for the acrylic tank I had my eye on from Tenecor.

The two plus sides to this tank that I do like is that it has the plastic trim on it with the recessed lip which will make adding the ATBA platform alot easier since I can rest it on this inner lip which would normally hold a hood. The second is that it equates to about 120 - 125 gallons which is damn perfect for one full grown turtle... grant it Niko is still a baby so to speak.

Ps; I found this tank on craigslist so if I do end up getting it this will be the first time craigslist has ever worked to my favor in a reallllly big way.

Even if I were buying that stand I dont see why it wouldnt hold the tank plus water weight. I've seen metals stands alot less sturdy looking hold enormouse amounts of weight.

Assuming 115g of water if I dont fill it up all the way which I wont, at 8.35lbs per gallon 115g equates to about 960.25lbs of water. Also assuming about 80lbs for the tank that woould come to 1,040.25lbs of weight ontop of the stand.

Edit: The only real concern would be floor support.

looks to be in good shape. An easy way i read to test the seals is to set in in your backyard on the concrete if possible. Then fill the whole thing up with water then let it sit for a day. Check on it throughout the day and see if there are any wet spots around the tank or the water level has decreased by a good amount.

Dont forget their will be minor water loss due to the sun.

Just something i heard and i will do with every used tank i buy to see what shape it is in.

Still snowin where I'm at but that wouldnt even be possible if it werent. Plus the whole wasting water thing since we pay for it. Worst case scenarious is I just replace the seals anyway. Still waiting to hear back from the seller to see if they would arrange a delivery for it. If they do I'm gonna snag this sucker because if I can get it it will be the last tank I ever need to buy for Niko baring any tank explosions

Where I live I dont even have this option. Best I can probably do aside from just outright resealing it would be to fill it half way and just let it sit in my room on the stand.

Like I said though, if I do get it, I'll just eyeball the seals and most likely end up resealing it just to be sure. If anything did fail on this tank it would be the seals because best I can tell from the pictures the glass is in great shape.

I just mean check it for signs of stress like air bubbles, chipping, dryness and stuff like that which would screm dont fill me up or ill flood your house.

Ahhhhhhh, you're so right.... highest bid takes anything or all..... I see. Well, it was really late last night for me. Tears welled up in my eyes, crying myself to sleep and I didn't wake up 'til now. It was worth it. Geeze, I tried to think how I could bring those things home to sell them over time at a healthy profit. Wouldn't have happened; not $1. I see. Plus, I couldn't be a scalper. Not the heart for it, or lack of.

I'm going to keep my eye on CL, b/c when my 2 turtles grow up, they will want a 125+g. I don't want to miss a really good opportunity.

Quick question. While figuring out what a great deal would be, I checked PetSmart online just now and their 125g costs ~$380.

I'm confused. Your are considering paying $450 for the tank only? And it's a used tank. I'm missing something. (now my excuse for missing that critical detail will be "I'm confused easily b/c was up late last night:) )
