Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I just moved into a new apartment and discovered that our ceilings are concrete and undrillable. Previously we had suspended Murphy's mvb lamp over his baking area and now we are unabe to do so. The zoo med reptile lamp stand is way too short (he has a 125g tank on a stand) any suggestions/products anyone knows of that we could use to suspend his light?

Just goto home depot get a concrete drill bit for like $5 get some wall anchors.

1. Drill Hole
2. Slam in one of the plastic wall anchors
3. Attach Eye Hook / Regular Hook
4. Hang Lamp

Problem solved ;-)

Edit: When your screwing in the hook it presses the walls of the wal anchor against the walls of the hole you drilled thus giving you an insanely tight fight to hold your fixture up provided its not more than a few lbs.

I also suspend a MVB bulb over my turtles tank but I did not drill into the ceiling. the Instead I screwed a plant hanger (the kind with an 'arm' you would use for hanging plants or a bird cage) the the wall and hung the lamp from that.

I hammered a hole into the wall and then hammered a pencil into a wall and then hung it. A pencil doesn't break that easily. :P
Oh yeah, I also secured it with rubber cement.

my lamp setup is similar to imderanged's. I have a plant/lamp hanger screwed in the wall which is only plasterboard.

I love a challenge..... okay, two plant hangers attached to the wall, one at each end and high above the 125g tank. Rest an 8' Copper pipe (rigid 1/2" or 3/4") spanning the distance, in each plant holder groove, securing the pipe with a set screw to each plant hanger. You can hang the lamp fixture(s) using either an S-hook or S-hook w/chain, anywhere across the tank using that pipe, and rearrange the fixtures anytime you want. You could place a third plant hanger in the middle for extra support of the pipe if you like, but light fixtures are so light weight.... Black goes really well with copper. A little sanding with the copper sanding strap to remove the red or blue ink on the pipe and it'll look way nice! Cheap, too!!
Take care,
V Lou

I have:
2 kitties
lots of plants
1 female RES, Itai, 1 female Western Painted, Daisey. They have lots of colorful pet fish and about 770 gal water.
