I was thinking of putting a powerhead on the intake to my canister filter. I was wondering if the filter will be more effecient and the canister motor will work less due to the increased flow from the powerhead...
I would think it may burn out your canister motor since it is pushing water in at a faster speed than it is made for. If you want more filtration with the powerhead, hook your powerhead up to a sponge filter or intake tube filled with media that can be pulled out and rinsed every few days.
I'd like to use a powerhead in unison with my canister filter. Should I put the powerhead on the opposite side of the tank so that water is circulated through the filter?
Does anyone have any reccomendations for powerheads that a turtle-proof? I'm looking for one that will increase disolved oxygen and is rated for tanks over 100 gallons.
I've been looking at some popular powerhead. I really like these Aquaclear powerheads because you can add a little filter cartridge into it. Do any of these have their own built in air pumps? I see the little air tube coming off the aquaclear powerhead, does that mean it needs to be hooked up to an external air pump? Basically, are their any powerful powerheads that come with their own internal air supply?
