Habitat - Indoor :: Cloudy water after first feeding w/ new filter

I just set up my fx5 filter yesterday using VepiaCray's build in my 6oG tank. Everything was working great until I fed Toby today....After come home after she ate I notice that the water is very cloudy and does not look like it's improving.

When Toby was smaller I'd feed her outside of the tank but don't have time to move her and I was hoping the FX5 would not make feeding in tank an issue.

Could I have possibly made a mistake when setting up? Is there an easy way to prevent this cloudiness?

If the filter is newly setup with all new media then it is not cycled yet. The cloudiness your seeing is probably a bacterial bloom. This is all part of the cycling process, it should take about 3-4+ weeks for your new filter to complete the cycle.

I agree with Mr. Duck. The cloudiness you're seeing is most likely the bacteria bloom at the beginning of a new tank cycle. What you are seeing is expected and very good.

Thanks guys! To my surprise I found a friend who used a fx5 for her fish and she told me the exact same thing: Don't touch and let it run it's course. It's starting to clear up little by little now too.
