i made our RES a area to get out of the water but i dont know what is good to use in the bottom. i had a piece of outdoor carpet which worked good for her to get traction up there but it started to smell and turned some nasty colors so i got rid of that. now i took one of those bathtub mats with suction cup on the bottom and put that in but she doesnt seem to be getting alot of traction and has a hard time getting up the ramp and moving around. so my questions is what's a good materal to use for the bottoms of these hidaways?

Reptile specific terrarium "carpet," it's turtle-safe and should give some good traction. You won't need too much traction as long as you provide a good ramp of to the basking platform. Just think of things that are rough or have holes that the turtle can grip.
