I think I am the first person on the forums to try out this stand. I have a concern though since I live in California and my buddy brought it to my attention as well. If for some reason there is an earthquake (we haven't had a good one for over 10 years.) the 2x4's are going to change position due to the lack of surface area. I originally placed them this way because the design on the DIY site showed it this way.
With the three cinder blocks, and three pieces of wood lying on their side instead of straight up, do you think it would compromise the integrity of the stand? This would prevent major shifting during any kind of seismic event.
Estimated weight of aquarium is.
70 gallons of water = 560lbs
Aquarium = approx 90lbs
650 total weight.
Opinions please.
