My RES is about 4 inches and i feed him 6-8 pellets a day I have just started giving him green leaf lettus every day. Do I need to cut back on pellets if I give him lettus with them or just lettus one day and pellets another?

You might want to try some veggies with more nutritious content. Lettuce kinda blows. There's a list in the 'foods they can eat' section in the nutrition forum.

You can offer some veggies daily, even on the days you offer other foods. Red-leaf, green-leaf and romaine lettuce are OK in combination with other veggies and aquatic plants, but not the only veggie every day. Look at the list of other veggies and plants you can give them.
