well just a couple hours ago one of my guppies gave birth to about 30-40 babies and i was wonering how i should take care of them, right now they have been seperated from the adults and put in mini fish bowls with a couple strans of anacharis

wow congrats! I'm waiting for one of my platies to give birth, too! I think you're supposed to feed them ground up fish flakes.

well i tryed feeding them but none of them paid any attention to the food

They're still absorbing nutrients from their yolk sacs, so you don't feed them until the third day.

If you're worried you can try to feed them sooner I suppose, but the yolk sac does nourish them for a while.

alright i will give in lol is there anything i should get them at the petstore like a heater or something better to put them because what they are in is about 1/10 of a gal or less

If there's 30-40 of them then get them a ten gallon and a lot of foliage to hide in. Even if they are in their own tank they don't feel safe. You only need enough to cover a corner of the tank. They eat normal fish flakes, just make sure and mush it up between your fingers before putting in the tank. They won't need that much. They grow really quickly too. Once they are about half the size of normal adults they will start to get their colors. The males will have bright colors and bigger tales. The females will generally be duller. All my females are half black half white. Once they start showing their colors, separate the males from the females or you will very soon have more babies. As long as the temp is between 70-80 you should be fine.

well my mom said i couldn't get a 10 gal so i got another kit like my anacharis tank.it was a 1.5 gal tank and it came with a light, some fake plants, a filter,fish food and some aquasafe

Make sure they have somewhere to hide & where they can feel safe. I've breed guppies since I was about seven.

no dont over feed that will just dirty and cloud the water. just feed enough that they can eat in 45s to 1 min to keep them healthy
