Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I still get confused about what or what not to feed my res. How do you do the sweet potato? Cooked or raw? Collards or no collards? And the carrot, do you put them in raw? My turtle is a beggar too. So I never really know how much to feed her. Still call her Turtle, think she's just gotten used to that as her name. She's getting really big and heavy too, almost 3 years old now. Oh, and what are some fruits that other res owners have any luck with?

Thanks for any info.

Have you gone over the feeding/nutrition index? www.redearslider.com/index_nutrition.html

If you have a real beggar then you really need to pay attention to what you're feeding and how much.

I have , but the more I read the more confused I get. Yea, she is a real good begger. She still has 9 fish swimming with her too, and they're getting pretty big. Her favorite seems to be the meal worms. Mostly right now all she is getting are the pellets and some kale, but she doesn't care for the kale either. Maybe she is lacking something and that's why she begs????

Meal worms are not really recommended. And there are better options than kale, like red leaf lettuce and dandelion leaves.

Perhaps you can get an idea of what other people are feeding:

Rosy Reds are minnows that are OK for your turtle to feed on every once in a while.
3 turtles,
3 cats,
& fish.

She has 10 of some kind of fish in there now that were small when I got them, they look sort of like goldfish. Guess they are just there to swim with her now. They go right up to her and she doesn't try to catch them.
Thanks again
