Feeding and Nutrition :: Reptomin..How many??

I have read alot of the posts and different people say different things so i think i need to ask this question

Joey is 1.5" in length and is happy in his aqaurium

I normally feed him 1 reptomin of a morning, some king british turtle and terapin food and then another reptomin at night

We sometimes give him some carrott or romaine lettuce at odd occasions throughout the day

Im wondering if this is correct or if im over feeding or under feeding.. I just dont really know becasue he always seems hungry

I'm not sure what the British turtle food is, so I can't comment on how much of that to add to the diet.
As for the reptomin, if you're feeding that as the staple of the diet feed as many reptomin as would fit inside Joey's head if it were hollow. You can divide that number into as many feedings as you'd like but that should be the total reptomin for the day.

What's the protein content of the King British food (I'm not familiar with it) and how much is "some?"

the protein contetn of the king british trutle food is not stated on the pack.

Its a natural blend of food including 62% pellets 25%ocean shrimp 10% freeze dried river shrimp and 3%krill

he has say reptomin morining shrimp n pellet dinner and reptomin afternoon say.

i dont really know how to judge how much to ft in his head and iv heard over feeding can casue major problems

Based on your description, I'd say the King British turtle food is classified as "junk food" in the turtle world. You can feed it to him as a treat, but I wouldn't exceed maybe one (I assume it's a small pellet) a day, if it's a big pellet, like a 1 inch cube or something, no more than one a week.

Overfeeding can cause a number of problems. Based on my experience (I had a turtle that small at first), I was feeding 3-4 Reptomin pellets a day, broken up into halves. Plus, try to get him on veggies as soon as he's willing.

The King British food is really high in protein. I'd stop giving it every day and give some as an occasional treat.

Break up 3 regular-size Reptomin and see if that amount isn't about the portion that would fit into his head (not including the neck). You can be conservative about this---you don't need the amount to fit exactly into the head. Try other foods as well, especially some veggies or aquatic plants.

he seems to love the veggies but he seems to love ALL FOOD!! haha

always seems hungryyyy!

what other veg is good for them when they are juveniels

Lol when I hear "loves to eat veggies", and "hatchling YBS", I'm thinking another river cooter has been sold as a Yellow bellied slider.

oops, you're right!

They are YBS. Yay! I also have a baby slider that actually LOVES veggies.

Usually river cooters are mistakenly sold as YBS, and cooters LOVE veggies, so that's why.....lol

What kind of veggies does your RES eat then kevin?

It's strange, I never actually SEE him eat his veggies, but they always have these turtle shaped chunks missing out of them.

He eats greenleaf lettuce, shredded carrots, aquatic plants, and hibiscus.

Can you get some anachris (aquatic plant) from an aquarium shop where you are? Try leafy greens, especially dandelions, red-leaf or green-leaf lettuce for starters.
