i had my turtle for about a year and a half and all he would eat was pellets cause thats all i knew u could feed him. then i found this website about when he was a yaer old and i put some rosy reds in there and he didnt touch them for about a month so i tricked him into eat it by catchin one by hand and feedin him by hand. and i did this by puttin a couple pellets in and when he went to bite the pellets i put the fish next to them so instead of the pellet he grabbed the fish and soon he started catching them on his own and loves hunting andis now quicker than most rosy reds they dont have a chance to swim away anymore. He traps them in a corner and snaps and cathces them almost all the time cause he swims as fast as them. and i did the same with veggies as fish and now all he eats are fish veggies and pellets
