Feeding and Nutrition :: napa cabbage?

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

hey all,

so we have joined a local CSA, which means we get fresh and organic produce every other week... this gives us lots of lettuce for fatty to eat, but also leaves us with other veggies that we get a little bored with eating ourselves...

can we feed him napa cabbage?

and on an unrelated note - we just switched him from nutrafin pellets to reptomin... i think the reptomin is giving him diarrhea... anyone else have that problem?

thanks!

Cabbage isn't recommended for turtles, it has goiterogenic compounds. That's awesome that you joined a CSA, i've always wanted to do that but thought it would be a waste seeing as how i live with non-veggie-eaters. Guess you'll just have to get creative with the cabbage, or eat a whole lot of cole slaw :D

About teh pellets, i've never had that problem, but i've always fed him reptomin so that doesn't say much. Could it be that he's eating more veggies then usual? My turtle gets the runs when he gorges on lettuce or anacharis.

The pellets, It's not the Reptomin causing diarrhea. It's the increased amount of veggies that the turt is not used to.
