Feeding and Nutrition :: Gelatin / Turtle Pudding is working!!!

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

So I made my own version of the gelatin turtle concoction to see if Ichigo would eat it and thus get some vegetable matter and pellets via her own mouth and it worked!!! I made it with more fish than I would have liked to have but I thought to slowly lessen the meat and add more veggies over time since I have only been able to get her to eat straight meat since she came to us as a rescue two months ago.
The vet told us to slowly wean her off the medication and tube feeding over the next week, only feeding/medicating through the tube every other day, and half the dosage.
So hopefully by next week we'll have her feeding tube removed! Yahoo! :D

Wow, that's great news that she's starting to eat on her own. She's such a fighter!

Let us know if it works for your picky eater too.

I'm going to make the next batch with chicken instead of fish because it's just too stinky. ... which I guess was the point this time to make sure she would eat it but, Yuck.

Congrats you guys! I am so glad to hear your babies are finally giving into something.

just a little side note. you can shave off little bits of cuttlebone like a powder into the mix to add some calcium

Ah, good idea. I do have some powdered bone meal too but maybe I can switch back and forth as I'm sure variety will give her the best nutrition.
