Feeding and Nutrition :: Cuttlebone

I will ask the store where I go what they have to say about how often RES should be given cuttlebone.

Hmmm...we've had discussions before about what they tell you at pet stores....

I think I'll stick with the advice from the experienced turtle owners here, like Steve;

If you are serving a well varied diet with a good pellet, I'd limit the cuttlebone.

Then you don't know this "pet store". Either way this is a controversial subject, do what you want I was only giving my advice since I have been around herps since I was about 8 years old.

why does my cuttlebone float at 1st then sink?? LOL

it just soaks up some water and eventually sinks

When RES eat cuttlebone do they seem to spit most of it out while chewing? If so will they still get a well enough calcium intake? I feed my RES a headpiece size every 2 days. I tried feeding her out of the water but she won't eat haha.
