Romaine and red-leaf lettuce are two different kinds of lettuce.
No lettuce is a powerhouse of nutrition, but the nutritional content of different kinds does vary a bit. Red-leaf has a bit more nutrition than romaine, and ice berg has virtually none at all (it's mostly water). I don't know why one is listed as being of limited usage.
I vary the lettuce I give them, but use red-leaf much more than romaine---it just so happens both my turtles and I prefer it. And, the lettuce is rotated with other greens such as dandelions and collards.
