Feeding and Nutrition :: Can I feed my turtle a newt ?

Dont do that.. Its an expensive treat and risks being poisenous, also thats ALOT of protein.

I wouldn't do that,because like the other said some are poisionous,and they have TOO much protein for a turtle,so I'd say no.Sorry.

Well,it's good to have a change in their diet,but I wouldn't do anything like that,because you have NO idea what germs,and diseases it might carry.I wouldn't recommend anything like that!

newts excrete poison from their skin. i wouldn't do it.

joey - My turtle loves salmon pieces. He only gets them occasionally because I don't eat them super often, but I buy the salmon packaged in water in the pouches, because it's chunkier. I give my cats each a piece, take a head-sized piece, and give it to my turtle. He loves it, grabs it and tears off to his back corner like "Mine!!" and munches on it. So you can definitely try that. Or other fish/shrimp that you've cooked from the fish counter at the store. As for live bait, you can always try a live cricket.

be careful what you feed. it can be really hazardous. their body system is different than ours so you cant stuff them with whole donuts and bagels. they need their nutrition so if i wore you id skip the newts. i think you should continue with the diet your using now seriously. before your turtles turn literally blue or somthing and turn out to be a new species or whatever. or theyll just die, you get the idea?
