my mom got me red belgian lettuce. its mostly white with some red on it. is it safe? nutritious

My google search turned up "Red Belgian Endive", sounds like your description. It has a calcium to phosphorus ratio of 2:1, so it would be on the "in moderation/no more than once per week" category.

If your mom is shopping for your turtle, tell her to go for leafy greens, specifically dandelion greens, red or green leaf lettuce, or romaine. The darker, the better usually. In supermarkets, you can frequently buy dandelion greens by the pound, so she could just grab a handful and that should keep your turtle good for the week. And NO SPINACH.
