Feeding and Nutrition :: smaller turtle not growing...

hi i have two RES and i feed them zoo-med pellets and they seem to like them a lot... at least my 2" one does! it eats most of the food since it is faster than my 1" one. should i feed them seperatley??? thank you in advance for your responses

You should seperate them all together. You say in another topic that they fight. The smaller one will die from injury, or stress before long if you dont.

okay thank you very much but should i but a whole other tank and lights and all of that?

If your tank is big enough, you can just use eggcrate to "cut it in half." You will still need separate basking areas and lights though.

By all means feed them separately so the one that's not getting enough gets his fair share. If they're starting to fight, they most likely will have to be separated.

If you have two enclosures, each should contain the necessary equipment to provide a healthy life for the turtles (one reason why turtle keeping can get expensive).

It says in your signature that your turtles are two months old. They have a whole year ahead of them if this is an accurate age. They are about the right size for two months (The two inch one might be a little big).

Do you have any pictures of them? There are physical traits that hatchlings have versus adult turtles. I'd like to get a look at their seams, and a few other things.

I think first you should separate them while feeding because most of the competition and fighting between turtles is caused by fighting over food. Their behaviour should slowly change after a few days of feeding them separate.

well turns out i wasnt fast enough and retro ate all of heros food and hero died

Turtles can go for a long time without food. How long was Retro stealing food from Hero? The reason I ask is because sometimes hatchlings die suddenly for no explainable reason. Kind of like the "sudden infant death syndrome" (SIDS) that human babies get.

And some people ask me why I don't want to bare children.
