Hi so i got wee Harvey all happy n set up in his nice new 4ft tank he threw a wee bit of a tantrum but now i cant get him 2 stop swimin he basks all day but since i put him his new tank all he has done is swim 4 the past 3 hrs throws a tantrum till i play wiv his wee ball swims throws a tantrum. anyhow i started feeding him dried krill 2day becos he wont eat anything else is it ok 2 only feed him krill he gets a drop of turtle vit each day in his tank so hopeing this is ok. my thinking was that he is swimin so long becos he has been baskin all day i swear i hav the worlds laziest turtle i hav done loads of research over the past few days i know more about turtles than is healthy. is it possible that who ever owned my wee man b4 me handled him quite alot and he misses it i tend not 2 becos i like 2 provide everything he need and then leave harvey 2 it doesnt seem fair 2 annoy him all the time. also he is like 4ever hungry i read they wud just eat when then cud as much as they cud is this right i dont want 2 over feed my wee man.

First and foremost, please write in proper English. Do not use "2" for "to", "2day" for "today", etc. Terminate sentences with fullstop. Capitalize beginning of
sentences. You know the drill. It's very difficult reading your posts.

Now, to try answering your questions.

Pellets and green vegetables should be staple for turtles older than a year. Yours
is 3 years old, so he needs half headsize pellets daily and vegetables. It's quite
alright to overfeed a little on vegetables. Please start reading from this page
regarding feeding. Dried krill is meant to be a treat, not a staple food.

Don't give up giving the proper diet for your turtle. Eventually, your turtle will
eat the staple food. Just keep trying.

It's normal for turtles to behave like what you describe as "tantrum". Usually,
it's a sign that the turtle is begging for food. We should not give in to that
begging. Once the turtle has eaten its portion of the day, it's good. Consider
the begging as exercise. :)

Turtle should not be handled much. I think you've done the right thing by
leaving your turtle alone most of the time in its tank.

I hope this helps. I'm sorry if it doesn't. :)

Thanks Kemul it does help alot. If he won't eat the pellets he is bound to sooner or later when he gets too hungry I hope. Look I typed the whole thing out nice lol.

Correct, that's called the "tough love" method. To ease the process, you might
want to try soaking the pellets in tuna water. Turtles seem to prefer smelly food.
The tuna water is from canned tuna, soaked in water, not oil.

To entice eating veggies, you can try the jello shots. It's one of the stickies in the
feeding and nutrition part of this forum.

Oh, it's nice seeing correctly written sentences. Good job! :)

Thanks for your advice. He is behaving the way he does when he is hungry but still not eating the pellets. He hasn't eaten since yesterday morning. He won't even eat the krill now so I have decided to try fedding every other day. Was thinking of perhaps not feeding him for around 2 - 3 days and then trying the pellets. He is quite the fussy wee man and will only eat what he wants to eat anything else he just ignores untill i fish it out.
