We are going out of town for thanksgiving like tuesday back on monday not sure ill have someone who can feed him. How long can they go without feeding. Maybe should i throw a bunch of fish in there and let him pig out before we leave. Suggestions?

They can go that long without food, especially you feed them a bit more before you go. You could leave some fish in the tank, you could also leave some anacharis (aquatic plant) and cuttlebone in the tank. If you want to spend a little money, you could get automatic feeder that dispenses pellets (make sure it's working before you go).

Put the lights on timers, clean the tank and before you go (less of a mess to return to). Have a nice trip. :D

Thanks guys, I had the same question.

As to details, how does this sound?

Extra pellets for 2-3 days before leaving, maybe to the size of head. Leave anacharis and maybe extra green bean bits or carrot shavings - greens which won't rot too quickly, and he's slower to gobble than lettuce....?

My guy is still a baby ~2". Special considerations?

Turtles are reptiles and can go long times without eating. Just fill the tank with Anacharis and fish(even though its not neccesary) and they will be fine.
