Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

Ok, i have talked my mom and dad to let me feed the turtles
Pellets
Bloodworms
and Gammare.

Do they need more than that.

Well the pet store guy said the gammre is the best stuff for them, well of course i listen to him for 8 months and the stuff is like 45% protien so they have pyrmiding and I need to get that down, what would help stop pyrmiding?

Also the pet store guy said no veggies, so my mom listens to him, not this site. He said no veggies because it hurts the PH level.

My mom gave me a 20 gallon tank for the turtles and her guppies are in a 55 gallon tank. I am telling her that the gupppies are usually feeder fish for the turtles but she says its cruel to feed the turtles live fish. I am convincing her that it is part of the food chain but that dosent work.

I need help really bad,
Thanks

Plz help me get them veggies and other stuff too!

They need some plant matter, i.e., veggies and/or aquatic plants in their diet. Look at the list for what's good to give.

Have her read the main website and see that.

Dixie, would you be able to make the jello shot recipe? you can tell her its a mixture of all their favorite foods (pellets, bloodworms, whatever) and then you can add in the plant matter you need and she'll never know.

also, i'd go to a different petstore or print her out this site and prove her wrong.

Like your mom, I can't stand the thought of feeding live things to my turtles either. =/

You can try killing the guppies beforehand by sticking them in the freezer. It's the most humane way (or so I've read), so maybe she'd agree to it then.
