Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

So I got my baby res on Saturday. He/she has not ate anything yet. At what point do you start to worry with a baby res when it has not ate anything. I know they have to get used to their new environment and all. Current basking temp is 88, water temp is 77 with a heater, 10.0 UVB 13 inches away. I am trying to feed him/her Reptomin.

probably nervous that you around and hasn't gotten used to you yet. Try leaving a pellet or two then leaving the room and checking back later to see if it is missing. Is he basking? Swimming good? getting around okay?

Yep basking good and swimming good. I come in and he takes off to the water right away. I have him in my office where I spend most of my time. The problem which is happening with the food too is it gets caught in the little current and then sucked into the filter. The pieces that float to the bottom just stay there.

Yeah it sounds like he's just nervous still, don't worry they can go a long time without eating and when he really needs to eat he will. He is probably a little uncomfortable still in his new home, he'll get used to it and start eating, then he'll link your presence with being fed and start greeting you when you come near. But it takes a long time to get them to just sit on the platform while your arond the tank. One of my RESs is close to 3 years old now and will still panic and dive back in the water if I come near his tank. At the same time I have three baby cooters who dont care one way or the other and will sit there through tank cleanings. I dont think you have anything to worry about. Worse comes to worse, try dead minnow or a small cricket or a bit of tuna

I agree that he's getting used to his new place. You do need to give him a bit of privacy and you can try certain foods. Live prey like earthworms or guppies/minnows (you might have to hold the food to make it easier for your RES) and food that has strong odor like bits of canned tuna are worth a try.

Regular Reptomin or Reptomin Baby? The latter is smaller in size and formulated for younger turtles. If you're using regular Reptomin and haven't done so, breaking up the sticks into smaller pieces would be good.
