Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

When is a turtle old enough that they don't need a feeding every day? I'm actually talking about my musk turtle, since he's looking a little chubby now. So I've been wondering if he's old enough now to not need every day feedings.

Thanks for asking this question. I was beginning to wonder the same thing myself - as Charlotte is almost 3 inches.

Why should turtles be fed every other day, and not small amounts every day? Is that feed nothing one day, or veggies are ok and just pellets every other?

I really think it depends on how a turtle is growing. If growth is really fast (you can tell by the seam and the shell), then I'd cut back to every other day (this is the head-size amount I'm talking about), I'd cut back. However, I normally feed turtles every day until they're almost a year old if they're growing normally. Technically, they are considered to be hatchlings until a year of age.

And BB, you can feed them pellets every day, if the amount is small, no more than half a headfull. You can give some form of vegetable matter daily, however, even with the pellets.
