Feeding and Nutrition :: Turtle's age and foods they eat?

Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

Post Posted: Mon May 31, 2010 6:36 pm   Turtle's age and foods they eat?

I was just wondering if some of you would share the age of your turtle and their favorite foods. Mine is about 3 years old and up until now has VERY limited interest in veggies. I try all of the recommended ones, including the lettuces, etc. He picks at it, and that's about it.

I just made some jello shots for him, and I think that's going to do the trick, so I'm super excited to get his veggies in him. I was just hoping to hear some of your stories about the veggies and feeding. Thanks!

Mine is 6 mo. I feed 2 pellets daily, provide cut romaine lettuce weekly that usually last two to three days at a time, I also give red lettuce and collard greens cut. I give one mini carrot when he eats the one in his tank. I got him right out the egg so I started early on veggies.

Well, I gave him some of the jello shot and he loved it. So now I have a way of getting his veggies in him. Thanks for all the responses. ;-)

Mine is 2. Loves pellets, dried shrimp, red/green leaf lettuce, sweet potatoes, zucchini, grapes, blueberries. She has eaten everything I have given her.

Sheldon LOVES his romaine! Usually give him romaine and carrots daily, a few pellets every couple days. He eates a few baby fish whenever my mollies have babies, but he doesn't bother any of the adult fish. I am going to start working some fruit into his diet occasionally. I just really wish he liked spinach... cause our garden is full of it but he won't touch the stuff :(

Ralph is about 16 and he'll eat anything. He's most finicky about carrots, but even those he eventually eats. His favourite is probably the turtle jelly shots, or any kind of fish. Frankie is probably around the same age, but she's more picky. Veggie wise, she will eat lettuce, sweet potato, and sometimes fruit. She's hit and miss with other various veggies, but she does not like carrots. Her favourites are the same, jelly shots or fish.
