Feeding and Nutrition :: Broccoli?

I was wondering about whether or not Broccoli was good for baby RES.

I put a piece in there tank and they seem to like eating it a little at a time and its fun to watch them rip off little pieces of it

Of course the piece is about 10 times the size of them since they are still babies and I just got them 2 days ago.

There size is about 2in from Head to Tail, with there shell at about 1-1/4 inches.

The one thing I noticed is that they have a heck of a time ripping it apart.
If it is OK that they eat it at will, I am going to steam the next piece so they can get at it easier. Or should I leave it alone and not steam it.

It's not recommended you feed broccoli to your RES. It's high in oxalic acid, which blocks the absorption of calcium.

I would take what's left in the tank out, and not get into the practice of feeding them broccoli.

Out of every 100 men, ten shouldn't even be there. Eighty are just targets. Nine are the real fighters and we are lucky to have them, for they make the battle. Oh, but one, one is a warrior, and he will bring the others back. -Heraclitus of Ephesus
