Discovered quite by accident (he stole it :P ) that our turtle likes cheese.

is cheese bad for him? i don't know if it causes any digestion problems

although i would imagine that it is a good source of calcium and protein but probably a little too fatty

perhaps low-fat cheese?

anyone have any experience/advice for this?

You should not feed your turtle any dairy products what so ever. There stomachs do not carry the enzymes needed for the breaking down of lactose. If you keep feeding your turtle cheese there is a high chance him getting sick.
