Hi,

I've got a young RES that I've recently bought, and was curious as to how much they're supposed to be fed a day. I've been feeding him nightcrawler worms a few times a day, as I've read they're bound to be more carnivorous when they're younger. I would think it would depend on his size, and his shell is about maybe 5 inches in length. Anyone help please?

Thanks,

-Charlie

Hi Charlei, i would feed as much as the size of the RES head, dont over feed, it can cause ur turtle to grow too fast and that is not healthy or beneficial to the shell. also, I would buy some [reptomin[protein] or turtle bites[veggies/fruits] hatching turtle food, since your turtle is young. try some boiled carrots, when they are soft as mashpotatoes, they will eat it..... mix the diet, dont only feed the same snack, its a suggestion =)
either feed 1x per day the whole daily amount
or feed 2x per day morning and afternoon- not late at night.

here are some pics of my gallery u can find the food there too,

actually because of the size of your turtle, you should start incorporating veggies into their diet on a regular basis. Get some commercial turtle pellets (reptomin is highly recommended) and offer a head sized amount every other day or every two days. Offer different veggies on a daily basis. There is a list of acceptable veggies (aquatic and regular) on the main site:
