So my hatchling arrives Tuesday. I have some Zoo Med hatchling pellets for him but what else should he eat as a hatchling?

I think I am supposed to offer lettuce even though he may not eat it. And does the lettuce float in the water or should I anchor it to the side with a clip or something? What else is a good veggie to offer a hatchling?

I saw Zoo Med Gourmet turtle food that looked like a nice variety of dries shrimp and meal worms but maybe too big for a hatchling? The desciption says 2 inch to 6 inch shell size but sometimes descriptions are not always accurate...

Thank you so very much for any input!!! This forum is priceless!!!

the pellets alone are fine for a bit. usually hatchlings won't bother with lettuce and other things but you could offer it if you want. i just throw it in the water. some people use clips. i'm not familiar with the zoo med gourmet stuff.

don't worry if it doesnt eat right away. they generally need a few days to a week or so to settle into a new home before they will eat.
