If it's found in every local body of water, chances are it's banned. I've found that what is or is not considered to be invasive can change quickly on a state's list. (You're in MA? I was once told you could get anachris in RI, if you want to take a drive. ).
It's good to introduce veggies early, especially leafy greens.
