hi all
my RES is almost 2 years old .
i cant find red leaf lettuce and almost all of aquatic plants in my area and my RES does not eat lettuce , Carrot etc...( itried everything)
the only thing that he eats is basil. i want to know if its good for him or not? and can u suggest me a good diet that i can use instead of aquatic plants?
i give him pellets(Reptomin and sera) and live feeder fish and basil

My RES used to love basil when he was young. It has Vit A, which is good. I wouldn't feed it as much as I would other leafy greens (lettuce, dandelions greens). If you can't get redleaf lettuce, can you find dandelions greens (even from outside if they're not spray with any pesticides)? Can you find romaine lettuce?

yes i can find romaine lettuce(the one with green leafs) and my turtle doesn't eat it , i almost try it 2-3 times a week but he is not eating it
about dandelion greeens i found it outside in parks but i wasnt sure about it. is it the one with yellow flower(they are short)?

They are, but if the dandelions are from a pubic place like a park, it's likey they (or the grass) has been treated with pesticide.

When offering romaine, take out any white vein in the center of the leaf. Offer the greenest part of the leaf.

i found some dandelion today in public(from side of a street) i picked and washed them very good with water and put them for my RES, he is not eating it i think he is not used to it yet
is there any trick for it? RES are usually the foolers but maybe i can fool him once:D

Whats funny is i'm currently trying to grow dandelions inside my house for when my turtle gets here. Oddly enough its friggin hard to grow them inside compared to them taking over my lawn
