Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

I use to give Niko cuttle bone but the backing even after soaking for 24hrs is a PIA to get off. Now as much as it pains me to admit I havent given Niko calcium for a good long while. In any case, would .com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=18_34&products_id=135]this work just as well as cuttle bone ?

Only thing I don't know is if it has any sort of backing or not. If not and it would be good for him then great.

Well to me I can justify the extraa cost as I always hate futzing with the backing on cuttlebone. I'm just curious as to the nutritional value of it compared to cuttlebone.

Sounds like "Turtle Bone", which is just repackaged cuttlebone. You can get giant pieces of cuttlebone, which is easier to work around the backing.

Thats the thing, I did get the big pieces, I just dont like messing with the backing so if I have to pay a tad extra to get it without backing then thats cool with me. I jut dont know what I can get that has good nutritional value that doesnt have some sort of backing on it.

You can dust some food with phosphorus-free calcium. Are you giving veggies, like red-leaf or romaine? Those have good amounts of calcium in them.

I give veggies sometimes but I would prefer some type of hard floating supplement that I know he will get on a more regular basis.

It does appear to have a hard backing. If you test it out, let us know how it is :)

If it does have a hard backing there wont be any testing done, like I said. I hate futzing with backing on stuff like this and would gladly spend a bit of extra cash on something that doesnt have any sort of backing on it.

I just use a butter knife to chip it off. You can find large-sized cuttlebone and you don't need to be as careful around the backing.
