We had golden apple snails in our tank with our RES. They didn't last long. As soon as we put them in the tank, the turtles were after them. It was gone shell and all in under an hour I believe. If you're thinking about putting them in with fish, I would think twice about it because they breed like mad and will overrun your tank. They make more mess than they're worth with fish.
