My turtle would only eat ham for so long....at first she would only get it as a treat but then she started wanting it all the time. I talked to someone who owned a private pet store and they told me that if that's what she wants then it's fine. Well, she still ate other things but ham was predominantly her "main" meal. I have since realized how bad that was for her and stopped giving it to her. She would act spastic when it was feeding time and wouldn't eat anything that I would offer her so I just kept offering her hornwort (that's always in her tank), anchoris (I can't keep it in her tank) and veggies. Brooks tends to like the color of things also so the red leaf lettuce is a favorite so I'd throw that in there. It took her awhile but finally one day I tried the pellets again and she finally ate all of them and we're back on pellets again every other day with her carrots every so often and aquatic plants and veggies daily. It was hard b/c she looked so hungry but I knew that it was better for her in the long run. So I know what you're going through but it's in the best interest for your turts
