Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

So I went to a reptile shop just down the street from me and I searched the whole entire store looking for Rosey Reds for my turtles and I asked a employee and they don't sell them meanwhile they sell every single saltwater/freshwate fish you can name I was so mad so I just got 10 feeder guppies (They were really cheap the total was 1.00.As soon as I got home I put them in and with in a hour they were all gone  .I was wondering do rosey reds have more nutritional value than guppies. And I also have one more question does petsmart usally sell them??

i went to the fish store to pick up some guppies this afternoon. the guy there said i should stop feeding him that because they have no nutritional value whatsoever...and then lead me to the freezer and said i should just get frozen shrimp......

i hope someone answers your question cause i love having fish swimming around my tank. That man missed out on a whole dollar

Both the rosy reds and the shrimp are a source of protein. Neither is exceptionally healthy for turtles, which is why they both should be rare treats. But, at least with the fish your turtles can enjoy hunting them and the chase is good exercise.

The fish (both types) and shrimp should be a treat instead of a staple. They are all a good lean source of protein, which is healthy in moderation. There isn't a huge difference between rosies and Guppies nutritionally speaking. The 2 big differences that I have noticed are that guppies are usually a smaller morsel than Rosies, but they are way easier to catch too. I haven't had a guppy last more than an hour in with the turtles, but I have Rosies in there, that I have had since May. There were 12 originally, so they do eat one occasionally.

Yeah I was wondering because within an half an hour I put the guppies in there they were gone  .Although my one male Jack is aggresive so I don't know if that has anything to do with it :)
