Feeding and Nutrition :: How many

Hey guys, mu friend is keeping this little one (they are two of them actually, the same size) and we were wondering how many pellets should these little one get? The pellets are about head size and contains 30% proteins. Is the level of proteins ok, or is it to low for this babys?

well when mines was like that i gave them 2 every three days. thats what the person selling them said and there wore no signs of pyramiding. and as for me my 3 inches diet hasn't changed so remember 2 pellets every 3 days dont fall for begging ok?

2 every 3 days is very low amount of pellets.. You should give them the amount that could fit in its head daily..

well i fed 2 every 3 days when mines was a hatchling. he came out fine besides the shedding part

Just because he turns out fine doesn't necessarily mean they were raised properly. Turtles are very resilient to improper care.

That being said, Screw is correct. You should feed a head sized portion everyday until they get to be 4''.

You might find it easier to feed these little guys if you switch to reptomin baby pellets. They're much smaller and easier for hatchlings to ingest.

If the pellets are too large (which they often are for tiny turtles), you can break them into pieces. When my turtle was smaller, I would break Reptomin full sized sticks into thirds.

I don't know if you can get Reptomin baby where you are, so you should just break the pellets into pieces. You can break them into small pieces, almost eye-sized pieces seem to be good.

My turtle is 2 inches and I feed him 5 pellets daily.

Your turtle looks like he may be around one inch, so 3 daily sounds about right.
