First, remember that any information that exists for vitamins and minerals are mainly speculation on scientists' parts because almost they are incredibly difficult to monitor and their effects aren't always apparent. Hence why many vitamins/minerals/supplements have mixed opinions on whether or not they help or hurt. Just today, a magazine said that folic acid in women is suspected of causing heart disease, meanwhile, there isn't a pregnant woman alive who isn't practically overloading on the stuff.
However, it is highly suggested that vitamin E (which is a fat-based vitamin) helps to promote shedding in reptiles and shiny coats in mammals, as well as acting as an antioxidant in humans and other animals. Vitamin E oil has been shown to effectively reduce scars for humans, my mom got rid of a 30 year old scar by applying it daily for a few months. Google vitamin E and shedding and you'll find some websites to that effect.
