Feeding and Nutrition :: turtle not eating anymore?

my turtle named monster would eat what i give him before. I fed him pellets and crickets.now i feed him goldfish only because thats what he eats.now he doesnt eat anything and also he doesnt have a heating lamp. whats the problem no lamp or my turtle?

You definatly need to stop feeding him goldfish. They are very high in fat and bad for your turtle. Lettuce, carrots, etc. There is a whole section on what to feed on the website under NUTRITION. Crickets are not what you should be feeding your turtle either.

When I didnt have a heating lamp for my tank my turltes wouldnt eat at all. You need a heating lamp and UVB light for your tank. Also, I take my turtles out of my tank and put them into a slightly warmer smaller tank for them to eat. The warmer water makes them want to eat more.

So I suggest you get those things for your turtle right away in order for him to stay healthy and happy.

Your RES needs a heat light (along with the UVB light).

Your RES needs a submersible water heater if he doesn't have one.

From what you've written, it sounds like your RES needs a better habitat and diet.
