Turtle diets and eating habits discussed here.

over the past month, Lola has been on a diet of pellets, apple, shrimp and shaved ham.. feeding her the same portion size as her head. tonight we had roast chicken and decided to put it in the bath with Lola as there was a decent amount of meat left on it.
She absolutely destroyed it! i was amazed with how much she ate. but is it healthy to feed a turtle and just let them help them self? i can't see it as healthy but she has been nagging for food even after she eats for so long.

RES will eat even when full. That's why you need to be pretty strict about their feeding habits and resist their begging. She shouldn't be getting any ham either. Does she get any aquatic plants or vegetables?
