Hey guys.! yesterday i was viewing the glass tanks and in the pet shop there were 5 different sizes, wich are:

1.20Gal tank wich is oviously bigger than my mini 10gal one..and comes with a filter its price is USD65.1$ , i calculated the price..the filter is whisper 1 2 or 3 i dont remebr..

2.30Gal tank wich is realy cool and is wide, i like wide tanks..about USD113.12$ with also a whisper filter..dont remeber wich one thought.

3.35gal Tank wich i didnt ask for -price or details-Why? just 35gals..thats what maria is in size 3.2''.

4.40gal Tank Wich i loveeee <3 its realy wide compared to the 55gal one and has a whisper 3 filter..the ppl from the store didnt even bother to get me the price for the tank with is filter, because every tank sold there is kinda like a bundle with filters, gravel and decorations.i think it may be 150 to 190USD

5.55gal tank...i hate this one...is just so LONG and NARROW! Maria Would Just Hate it..its about 200USD without nothing on it, i just hate it..

i would like to buy the 40GAL one because its wide and i have a stand for it. i hoped u guys can help me choose because at the end(or allmost the end)of the summer ill get the money from a lil job i have.

Oh yeah..ive been thinking of buying this one, my dad can buy it for me http://www.bigalsonline.com/BigAlsUS/ct ... sterfilter

My opinion - go for the 40 gallon one. It will be a really nice home for Maria for quite a while. Eventually you'll need to get one of the REALLY big ones but in the meantime Maria will be happy. And in my humble opinion you can't go wrong with an XP3 (though someone on here apparently did get one that was a lemon) and it will be a good filter for you when you finally do your last tank upgrade sometime in the future.

I agree with SpotsMama. The 40 gallon (the wide one's are called "breeder tanks") is a really nice size. The 55 gallon tanks are too narrow and are designed more to show off fish. A narrower tank makes the fish spread out across the length of the tank as opposed to front to back. They also spend more time facing sideways as they swim from side to side so you can see their bodies more.

A wider tank has more surface area and provides the turtles more free swimming room as they get a little bigger.

well, only guppies and a few plants, i dont like too much hard work lol, maria demands alot of attention, every time i get from school she jumps into the basking platform and makes some noise with her caparace by ''banging'' it on the glass, she wants me to say hi and scratch her back....only when shes hungry she does all that inj the water lol, i might try raising some guppies tho

Congrats! You and and Maria should be very happy with your new tank when you get it. In the mean time, you should keep checking out the ads in craigslist.com. You might find a really good deal there.

craigslist.com is an international website with a section for a lot of different countries and regions. It's a place for people to post ads just for their local area so usually the exchange is done in person. You only use the internet/email to make the initial contact with the person. Kind of like a local Want Ad. But you may not be able to find much for where you are unfortunately. :?

Here's a thought. I'm a big fan of mail centers. I wonder if you could have somoething from the US shipped to a US mail center, and then have the mail center send it to you? I know shipping overseas is no problem for a mail center.

My 90 gallon is 19 inches wide, 48 inches long, and 24 inches high. Is that wide enough or should I have gone wider????

19" wide sounds very wide. It's good!

The only difference between the 40gal breeder and the 90gal tank is the length and height. The width on both tanks is about the same. I think the 90gal is a very good size for aquatic turtles.
