i have ordered a new tank about 40" long x 16" wide x 20" tall. i want to know if anyone have experience making a tank divider for a tank that size? currently the dividers on the market are for small tanks 10 - 15 gallon tanks and they don't look as good, so i want to make my own.
i'm PLANNING of having a single large wood log in the water, so someone i have to find ways for the log to go through the divider but no have my 1" turtle go through it. anyone with suggestions or pictures (if you have a divider) please let me know. thanks.

u could use egg crate ceiling material, David has experience with that, he made a hiding spot for fish and I think plants in his turtle tank with it.

The largest divider I've seen in a petstore is made of plexiglass and is for around a 50 gallon tank. Petsmart sells them as well as some smaller sizes.

Whether you buy or make one, if you plan to have a log in the water (make sure it's not from a resinous tree such as pine or cedar; corkbark or a type of driftwood that floats would be much better) in the middle, I think the divider would have to be cut to accommodate it. Unless you made two halves of a divider and somehow attached them together around the log.

yes i'm dividing up a 1.5" false map and a 4.5" RES. i was gonna just put them two together but i thought maybe i should divide them apart until my map turtle gets a little bigger; just as a precaution.
- one RES named Luvia-Solana
- one false map named Chestnut
