Equipment Review and Discussion :: Filter upgrade from two Aquaclear 50's

I currently have a 40 gallon tank with three RES. Right now I'm running two Aquaclear 50's and they keep the tank clean but they are loud. I'm looking to get a canister filter. What does everyone think of the Filstar XP3?

Could you please rate it 1-10:

Effectiveness
Ease of maintenance
Quietness

Any other recommendations for filtration systems?

I've used one on a much larger tank than yours, so I think it would be fine on yours. There's quite a bit written on the forum on this filter if you look...

BTW, I don't see how the two Aquaclear 50's did a decent job on a 40-gallon tank unless you've got small hatchings. When I used an Aquaclear 50, it was with one small hatching in a 10-gallon tank.

You didn't say how big your 3 turtles are, but if they're anything larger than a small hatchling, they need a bigger tank.
